As soon as you hear a title like this, a dozen images are likely to fill your mind – even unknowingly.
We’ve all seen the depictions of what the “wild west” is or was, in all kinds of media. The iconic picturesque scene of dusty trails, horse-riding, gunslingin’ action with a ball of tumbleweed rolling across while some hefty fellow with a cigar and boots tips his hat.
In reality, the west was built on migrants, railroads, farming and the genocide of cultures, the Wild West both shows a very dark segment of American history, but also one of the most revolutionary movements that created the states we know today. Giving work to thousands of farmers, returning soldiers and immigrants wanting to make some kind of living expanding the American empire, the frontier was put forth by the creation of a transcontinental railway that would allow commerce to grow and enable the stability of frontiers with accessible resources.
Today I'd like to introduce you to my boi Tijiro.
Tijiro is an alien cowboy from an alternate universe, he is sent through space and time to earth due to a nasty confrontation with space bandits which result in a time-warp gun being shot at his face.
Back home he rides around herding space pterodactyl to cultivate and sell pterodactyl leather. Equipped with a photon tentacle that develops from the device on his eye, he is able to be the most profitable cowboy in all of the space districts. Because of this he attracted attention from neighbouring cowboys and bandits who saw him as something to profit off of.
Once he crashed through the warp portal, he landed in an unknown place to him; the western frontier, heavy dust and all. Luckily for him the locals wore similar cloaks to him and while startled at first, took him in. Accepting the stories he told they began to teach him the ways of the west, he later decided to repay the humans on earth for their hospitality and use the tools at his disposal to wrangle no good criminals with bounties on their heads and rescue the occasional earth-damsel.
