The phrase "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" is a famous sermon preached by Jonathan Edwards in the 18th century during a time of the colonial settlements that created widespread frontier culture.
Sermons are a religious expression based on passages of the bible. This sermon in particular warns that until mankind changes their way, they are all "sinners in the hands of an angry God", lecturing a corrupt and unjust society that is condemned to hell.
Frontier culture is largely folklore and mythology, however did exist within the era of colonial settlement during the 18th century. The American Frontier existed, however what we see as the wild west today is idealistic, a fabricated reality of the actual era.
Contemporary interpretations of the wild west are exgarrated and appropriated, often focusing on the conquest and settlement of Native American lands.
The anarchy and chaos of the colonial frontier is romanticised, depicted as heroic, ethnic cleansing is re-imagined and somehow justified, in the end we're just glorifying death and racism.
The "wild west" was a barbarous era, even Puritans alike Jonathan Edwards that claimed to have moral highground immersed themselves in hypocrisy. Edwards owned slaves for a large proportion of his adult life, but in 1741 denounced their use.
Ironically this entire contest embraces the controversial and stereotypical ideal of the wild west the media. It embraces imprecise depictions of heroic ethnic cleansers.

basically the wild west is so dreadfully appropriated and usually so racist and this entire contest encompasses those ideals
